Midwest Mustang Challenge

Have you heard what Jim is doing? It all started when Jim read in Western Horseman about the 2007 Extreme Mustang Makeover and then saw parts of it on RFDTV. Where would we be today if we didn’t have such luxuries like the Television?   Well, Jim got to thinking, “how did I miss this?”  “Do you think they will do the challenge again?” he said to me.  “Nancy, get on the internet and find out if they are going to do this again, get me phone numbers, anything” said Jim. Well look what we have discovered, the 2008 Midwest Mustang Challenge. Jim called the main office and found out the deadline was two days away. The rush was on. There was so much paper work to fill out and get back to the Mustang Heritage Foundation. Thank God again for our luxuries, this time it was the fax machine. Well Jim got every thing filled out, fax in, and now it was a hurry up and wait. I asked “Do you think you will get picked?” . “Oh yes,” Jim said. “We have the facilities, the trailer, the proper fencing and barn. We know how to train, I am sure I will be chosen.” Well sure enough a few days later I receive an email.

Well, Welcome to the… .

MIDWEST MUSTANG CHALLENGE - APRIL 18-20 – 2008

Dear Mustang Challenge Trainer:Midwest

CONGRATULATIONS - you were accepted as one of the competing trainers!

Due to Jim's ability to train mustangs he is one out of the 50 selected nationwide for the Midwest Mustang Challenge training competition.   All the trainers have been picked for the Midwest Challenge and Jim would also like congratulate every one who made the list. Good Luck and God Bless you all!

You know, this is a lot of work for my guy or any one. What they are doing is commendable. To take a wild mustang, train it, and compete in the competition, “wow”. The competition will consist of Conditioning, Ground work, Trail (obstacle course),and Free Style. The competing Mustangs will then be up for adoption, through a live bid process. This not only gives Jim the satisfaction of the challenge, it also helps the successful adoptions for America’s mustangs and burros.

I don’t know if you know but The Mustang Heritage Foundation is committed to:
            * Supporting and advancing the repositioning of wild horses (hereafter referred to as mustangs) as a positive horse owning experience in conjunction with the BLM

            * Assisting in creating a more marketable product through improving selection and expanded and enhanced training programs for critical mustang age groups

            * Attracting potential adopters and assisting the BLM in turning prospects into adopters

            * Providing information and education about mustangs and burros, their care, nurturing and use as athletes and companion animals

            * Identifying and providing opportunities to become involved in the mustang and burro experience through adoption, volunteering, sponsorship and philanthropy

Well with this all in mind, please follow Jim thru the training process of the mustang he drew. I am not the fastest in getting things on the computer but I will update as I can.
